Review Minebox Plus

Minebox Plus is a resource pack that transforms many basic textures. It literally creates Minecraft+. With it, you will see fresh and unusual solutions, long-awaited changes, and simply the good style the author chose for the work. The nicest part is that this resource pack blends perfectly with the base textures, meaning it will be very easy to get used to. At the same time, it affects completely different segments of the game: blocks, items, phenomena, and more. We will talk about this further.

Blocks

Some have become more realistic, while others simply received alternative textures. For example, foliage now extends beyond the boundaries of its block, terracotta and cobblestone now look more like natural materials. There are also more cartoonish textures, such as the chest. These blocks have visible outlines and a different color combination. But this approach doesn’t clash with the rest and does not split the resource pack into separate sections. Everything looks unified. It’s also worth mentioning that some base blocks have their own visual variations. The most obvious example is regular dirt with grass. The player can find the usual block or variations with flowers, which nicely refresh the monotonous surface.

Items

Here, the author focused on believability. Many of the modified blocks now have volume and highlighted elements. And thanks to shading, the difference compared to standard textures is clearly visible. It’s easy to believe in items from Minebox Plus, because they look natural and organic, even if they still rely on pixels (it’s still Minecraft after all).

Mobs

They haven’t moved very far from their originals. You will still easily recognize their familiar faces. Moreover, there are far fewer updated examples here than in other categories. Nevertheless, the updated appearances breathe fresh life into old mobs, even though conceptually and stylistically they remain very close to their base counterparts. The main change is the color palette, which has become more contrasting and saturated. Colors are now brighter, and designs more memorable.

Overall impression

Minebox Plus is not named that way by accident. It improves many aspects of the base game, making them better. In many ways, it is still the good old Minecraft, but here and there you will notice additions that influence the experience. This resource pack is perfect for a vanilla playthrough, but it will not combine well with resource packs of a different resolution (not 16x) or ones that overhaul the entire game. Minebox Plus is meant specifically to enhance the existing foundation of the game, not create something fundamentally new.
