Swampex

A small mod that introduces a few decorative and functional changes to the swamps of Minecraft. New blocks, new mobs, new vegetation, which harmoniously fit into the vanilla style of the game, without standing out but complementing the existing elements.

Vegetation

The mod adds a new tree to the game – a willow. You can cut the willow down and use it to craft all the standard wood blocks with a visually attractive texture that thematically emphasizes the swamps. Beyond that, from the cut plant, you can get a certain number of seedlings and will be able to replenish the tree population at the cut-over area if you want.

You can also see a new liana on the willow. The texture of these updated lianas is almost the same as the vanilla one, but the twigs are slightly thinner, and the color is a couple of shades darker. However, the model has volume and 3 dimensions. On the ground, you’ll find another new plant – a cattail.

When you break it, the cattail drops a cattail stick. Further, you can hold it and click on any solid block to get sticks and cotton wool or fry it on fire and get a rather satisfying meal with 2.5 saturation points and 1.5 energy.

In the ponds, you’ll also find small groups of water lilies and large leaves of a giant lily.

New Blocks

The dirt blocks got a second life thanks to the mod. In the vanilla game version, you could also use them to craft new blocks, such as sun-dried bricks, but now you’ll get all the rest of the missing blocks – stairs, half-blocks, carved blocks, fences, and columns. At the same time, you won’t need expensive bricks to craft them – all you’ll need is thick dirt, a workbench or a stone cutter.

From now on, you can use Froglights – rather boring-looking luminous blocks – to craft cute lamps and torches.

A New Mob

A new and extremely toothy mob will also be introduced into the game – a Jaw Fish. And don’t be fooled by its look. It’s a really tough and dangerous opponent. First, these fish rarely swim alone, usually preferring to move in groups. Second, their health level is as many as 15 hearts, which puts the fish at the same level as the strongest vanilla mobs in the game (but for bosses, of course). Besides, they bite extremely actively and painfully, so be sure not to dive into their pond without the Netherite or at least Diamond armor.

After death, the fish drop their teeth. Collect them, as you’ll need them to craft a new interesting item – a trap. You’ll need traps to protect your base – they are good at fixing an enemy in place, so you’ll no longer have to put trolleys or boats along the entire perimeter.

Another mob-related update is frog legs. Yes, from now on, frogs won’t be completely useless or used just to get Froglights. You can breed and eat them, because they drop frog legs, which you can eat raw or fried. This food isn’t very satisfying, but it’s still better than a whole nothing.
