In Minecraft, players spend a lot of time mining, gathering various types of resources. Early on, iron and copper might be enough, but later you want to get diamonds, netherite, and many other valuable materials. However, players have to spend extra time processing these resources in furnaces, setting them up in treasure rooms or somewhere underground. If you move all resources to storage, processing only starts there. This could be optimized by adding new mechanics to Minecraft, and if you’re ready to try such an innovation, check out the mod featured in this review!
The Smelting Enchantment mod adds a new enchantment called “Smelting”, which automatically processes ores as you mine them. For example, when you mine iron ore with this enchantment, instead of picking up the ore block, you get the processed iron ingot directly in your inventory. Convenient? Definitely! This is a completely new enchantment for vanilla Minecraft, obtainable only under specific conditions. If you’re ready for this gameplay, give this mod a try.
Minecraft has many enchantments, but now there’s one more. The new “Smelting” effect can be applied only to pickaxes, since they’re used to mine ore blocks. This enchantment works with all vanilla ores — diamonds, emeralds, coal, and many other materials you encounter daily. You can obtain the smelting enchantment book mainly in various dungeons or by trading with villagers, so you have a good chance of getting it just by trading with NPCs.
The Smelting Enchantment mod offers many benefits:
/loot give @s loot smelting_enchantment:smelting
or enchant a pickaxe with /enchant @s smelting_enchantment:smelting
;This new pickaxe effect lets you quickly smelt any ores from both vanilla Minecraft and some mods (though full compatibility depends on testing). The enchantment book itself is unique — the developer chose a white texture not used in vanilla books, so you’ll spot it easily in your inventory. It looks really cool and distinct. Note: if you use resource packs, only vanilla books’ appearances will change.
In summary, the Smelting Enchantment mod is highly recommended for any player surviving in vanilla Minecraft. It doesn’t imbalance the game but saves you time and preserves XP from smelting. You can still use regular furnaces for other blocks like stone bricks, clay, or terracotta, so those items remain useful. If you know of any mods adding unique enchantments to vanilla Minecraft, feel free to share them in the comments so others can try them too.
