Every player in Minecraft has a nickname (Nick Name), and it doesn’t matter what mode you are in: single-player or multiplayer. Even if you are running solo in the game world, your nickname is displayed, which can, so to speak, "expose" you in certain situations. For example, you can be seen behind a block, and if you approach some structure in a cave, other players will see you even before you try to sneak up. The same applies to your opponents. On many projects where griefing and mass fights are allowed, this mechanic is disabled or reworked so that nicknames are not displayed and players can hide them. In the new versions of the game, there is even a mode using a "locator" where you can hide. And if you would like to hide your nickname in the game, take a look at the solution we offer.

The Realistic Nametag modification reworks the standard nickname display mechanics in the game. Previously, it was displayed everywhere (behind blocks, underwater, behind structures), but now it is only displayed if you are within the line of sight of other players. For example, if you stand behind a tree and the other player does not see you, then your nickname will also not be displayed. It may seem like a small detail, but it changes many vanilla survival mechanics and offers slightly improved, and sometimes challenging gameplay, both for you and for your opponents. In this review, we will reveal all the secrets of use, features, and application in specific modes.

By default, nickname display always works for players, both in single-player and multiplayer. On servers, usually, only the font, nickname placement, and color differ. At the same time, the mechanics themselves do not change. But some projects disable the ability to display your name through blocks, opaque textures, or obstacles, and this modification uses about the same mechanic.

· Nicknames are not displayed through opaque blocks and objects, whether it is a tree, building, or structure. For example, you can hide behind a house, and other players will not see your nickname, although earlier on servers it was possible;
· Partial nickname display. If players can only see part of your nickname, it will not be displayed fully by default. You see exactly as much as the visible part;
· “Invisibility” effect. If an entity uses the “Invisibility” effect, then its nickname completely disappears, and other players cannot see it;
· Configuration file. Players can use a separate configuration file to adjust display parameters, for example, when using effects.

The innovations with nicknames and their display are intended for vanilla player behavior and bringing them closer to real conditions. That is, the system offers immersion into a more hardcore mode, to feel the atmosphere where a player can hide however they want, and no one can detect them from afar unless they come close. And this mechanic can be used for many purposes:
· Adventure maps. If several players are going through the same location at the same time, they can hide, escape from their opponents, and gain an advantage by not being seen;
· Hide and Seek modes. Even if you don’t have separate mods installed for these modes, you will be able to hide your nickname and hide as you see fit. It all depends on the skills of a particular player;
· Arena battles. Do you often take part in mass battles with players? Participate as clans or teams? You can hide behind different ledges, barricades, and suddenly deal damage to the enemy. Previously, on multiplayer servers, nicknames were displayed under any conditions, and this mechanic made no sense;

· Diversity for players. With such a small feature, players on your project get a serious advantage, and everyone can hide, use such mechanics for their own purposes, and try to trick other players;
· Realistic physics when using effects. If a player drinks an “Invisibility” potion, then they really cannot be detected by other players, no matter how hard they try to find them.

The Realistic Nametag modification has a simple but very important functionality that will most often be used in multiplayer mode. Hide your nicknames, refine stealth mechanics, hiding behind different blocks and ledges. Just don’t forget that the changes apply to opaque textures, but if it is water, glass, or other materials, then players will see your nickname, and this should be taken into account. Try playing with such an add-on and share your experience: how convenient it is, and what other mods were included in your build to maintain the vanilla survival level.
