How to decorate rooms in a small house or large medieval castle? For that purpose, the developers from Mojang added a large selection of paintings in the first game versions. They perfectly complement any interior, cover the walls, visually expand the space, and just somehow diversify boring and one-color blocks. But over time, these paintings themselves become boring, as you have already learned literally each of them and become annoyed. It is for this category of players a custom mod called Portfolio has been created, which adds new types of paintings by a well-known artist to the game.
The Portfolio mod adds as many as 16 new paintings to Minecraft, each of which is notable for its style and composition. They depict a golem, a cat, several flower types, and many other characters suitable for any in-game design style. We recommend you read our review, as it will allow you to see what kind of paintings were added to the game and what their main features and advantages are even before you decide to download Portfolio. Even though it is only virtual, it is still a true art, which needs to be understood and appreciated.
The standard version of Minecraft still lacks decorative design options, which is a significant problem of the game. When such a large number of custom mods are released, you cannot but start to compare the content of the vanilla game version with them and realize that it is very scarce. Indeed, this project exists only due to the fan community and the constant development of new mods — otherwise, the vanilla version of Minecraft would have lost its popularity long ago. Hundreds of thousands of servers and thousands of add-ons are continuing to appear, some of which gather a huge audience. But everywhere, players want to create some kind of cozy atmosphere and highlight a particular style.
So if the standard selection of paintings seems not enough for you, we recommend you install the Portfolio add-on, as it allows one to take advantage of 16 new options. The paintings were created by the artist Yapetto — he is a real person, and his works are also real. The modder has transferred some of them to the virtual world, so you will have to witness the paintings of a man who has spent a lot of time creating such masterpieces. As you can see, some of them indeed feature the Minecraft style. You will be able to appreciate the paintings with a beautiful cat, some flowers, planets, monsters, mobs, and a parrot — and that is not all the content that will become available to you after installing the mod.
We have tried to take as many screenshots with different paintings as possible for you, but these are not all the available canvases. As you can see, there are almost all sizes here: square, the smallest, long, elongated, large-format, and many others. The player can choose what painting to hang in terms of size, but the Minecraft system generates each picture randomly. So you will not be able to predict which painting will appear when you try to hang a canvas on the wall. In the vanilla game version, there are both separate types of paintings and all their available variants. It is enough to type 'Paint' in creative mode and see what is available, namely several dozens of canvasses.
The appearance of each painting is impressive. The designer has tried to convey the entire atmosphere and quality of the canvases in a cubic pixel world. Of course, they still look worse than their prototypes, but if you would like to improve their quality, you can resort to texture packs available for any game version. There are even special builds that affect only the appearance of the paintings, and the rest of the content and all the blocks retain the vanilla style. Such an approach is suitable for users who just would like to change the standard appearance of the in-game canvases.
That is all the functionality available in the Portfolio mod, but that is quite enough to add it to your build. At the moment, it has about 300 thousand downloads and supports almost any loaders available for Minecraft, i.e., Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge. If you wish to transform the paintings in a couple of clicks and get new options, be sure to take advantage of such a ready-made solution. This mod does not load your system, minimally changes the in-game content, and does not affect the vanilla survival style in any way. It is just a cosmetic option that allows you to slightly diversify the decorative design in Minecraft and somehow diversify the virtual environment with new elements.
There are other custom mods for Minecraft that allow you to add new types of paintings. If you are interested in this topic, we can suggest some more cool and high-quality options. Thus, Paintings++ adds about a hundred new canvases of different sizes to the game world. In turn, Too Many Paintings brings ~50 different elaborate variants created by talented pixel art masters. As you can see, the choice is broad, and these are not all customization options. Be sure to write in the comments, and users will recommend you a large list of mods that will allow you to add more pictures to the game.
