In the vanilla version of Minecraft, there are many mobs that you can interact with, tame, and travel with. These include dogs, cats, and parrots, the latter being very popular among players. People genuinely love them, collect them, and take them on adventures. Since players can place a parrot on their shoulder, no control is required. However, by default, parrots are static and barely move. If you want to bring them to life, you can use the Party Parrots add-on, which we are discussing in this article…

The Party Parrots mod adds a dancing animation to all parrots in Minecraft. They will actually dance, each with unique moves. No matter where the parrot is (on your shoulder, on the ground, or flying), it will always be dancing. This is the only feature added by the Party Parrots add-on. We have tried to show how it looks in the screenshots, but it’s best to install the mod and see the animations in action, as the images don’t capture all the fine details and elegance of the animation, which is quite impressive. The developer has put in a lot of effort to provide great functionality, even if it’s not a massive change.

Parrots in Minecraft have always been appealing due to their colorful appearances, as they can spawn in different variants: red, green, yellow, blue, and many others. For players, they offer a chance to collect unique mobs to interact with and enjoy the gameplay. Despite being native to jungle biomes, players can take them on adventures to the Nether, the End, and even through portals. However, not many players know a small secret: whenever a music disc is played in a jukebox, parrots start dancing!

The Party Parrots add-on uses a similar system: parrots dance constantly, no matter where they are. You don’t need to play a jukebox for this to happen, although Minecraft’s vanilla version has some fun tracks to listen to, even in MIDI format. Once you install this mod, you’ll notice a change in mob animations—they start moving, each in their own way. This system adds a lot of new possibilities to the game that you might not have thought of. For example, you could create a dance floor with cool lighting, music, and colorful lights. If you add other Minecraft mods that allow you to play different types of music (even from your PC), you’ll get a fantastic setup.

Visually, each parrot looks standard, but thanks to the new animations, their overall appearance and perception change. Instead of a static creature, you now see a dynamic one: always moving, dancing on the ground, in the air, or on a player's shoulder. Sometimes, it even looks like they’re drunk! We’ve shared some screenshots with this mod, but it’s best to download Party Parrots and see how it looks in real-time, as images don’t fully convey all animation details. Watching a video or testing it in-game is the best way to experience it.

The Party Parrots add-on has over 2.3 million downloads and is already available for Minecraft 1.21.4, supporting Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge. You can add it to any mod pack regardless of the other installed mods. It works correctly in all versions and can be used alongside other animation-related add-ons. The developer actively supports this project, even though it’s not a massive gameplay overhaul. Party Parrots is often included in various mod packs simply for fun.

The Party Parrots mod does not overload the game launcher, so you don’t need to worry about performance or optimization. If your PC is powerful enough, we recommend installing shaders with shadow effects, lighting enhancements (especially sunlight), and water reflections. This way, the new parrot animations will be reflected in water and shadows, making for an even better visual experience. You can record amazing Minecraft-style videos or simply improve the game's aesthetics. Feel free to share in the comments which parrots you like the most in the vanilla world and how many you’ve tamed at once.
