In the vanilla version of the game, there are only a few bosses you can fight. This category mainly includes the Ender Dragon and the Wither, and only they have a health bar displayed at the top of the screen. If you’re not using additional mods to display mob parameters, it’s hard to tell how much damage is left to defeat a creature. That’s definitely a problem, isn’t it? It’s much easier when you have at least some indicator showing the health of mobs. Previously, we covered the Enhanced Boss Bars add-on, which adds unique boss health bars, but in this review, we’ll focus on another category of mobs.
The Mini-boss Boss Bars add-on adds a health bar for mini-bosses. This category includes many creatures from regular survival mode, such as the Warden and the Elder Guardian, as well as mobs from other mods, since this tool supports integration with different types of creatures. The list is quite extensive, and the developer keeps expanding it. And if it turns out that your mod pack doesn’t have integration, you can add the data manually in just a few minutes. It requires minimal effort from the player and gives you a useful health bar display.
Fighting any mob in the game requires skill, good armor, and healing potions, but in vanilla Minecraft, it’s hard to fight some creatures if you can’t see how much HP they have left. Sometimes it’s better to take the risk and finish the mob off with low health rather than letting it recover. That’s a normal tactic for most players. With this mod, you’ll always have information about the HP of many mini-bosses, both from the base game and from other mods that add custom mobs.
· Health bars. Almost every mini-boss will now have a small health bar that shows the creature’s current HP. The bar updates in real time as you deal damage, making battles more efficient and giving you critical information;
· Support for other mods. The developer has already added integration for many other add-ons by default, including Abominations Infection, Alex's Caves, Arthropod Phobia Expansions, and many others. You can also expand this list manually if you want;
· Configuration. After installation, a configuration file becomes available, allowing you to tweak various settings, display health bars only for specific mini-bosses, or blacklist certain mobs;
· Command control. Right after installing the mod, nothing will display by default, and that’s normal. Go into any world and type the command /mbbbforceshowbossbars to enable health bar display for mini-bosses. To disable it, simply enter the command again in chat;
· Thought-out mechanics. If you run more than 60 blocks away from a mob, its health bar disappears, keeping your screen clean. This means you can retreat from battle without the bar staying in your UI until you die;
· Take damage first. For a health bar to appear, you first need to take damage from the mob. Only then will the notification display at the top of the screen. This system prevents overlapping bars, which can happen even in vanilla gameplay.
This is a simple but very useful mod that adds important health indicators for mini-bosses. With it, you’ll always know exactly how much damage is left to defeat a creature, which can be crucial when you’re hesitating to engage but suspect the mob has only a little health left. As a bonus, we recommend pairing this mod with the Enhanced Boss Bars add-on, which lets you customize the appearance of health bars with detailed textures.
In conclusion: this mod is a great addition to any mod pack, enhancing the interface with useful health indicators. The more information a player sees, the easier survival becomes. If you don’t have any mods to display HP and mob stats, Mini-boss Boss Bars will help during combat by showing health progress in real time. The developer has thoughtfully designed the mechanics to prevent overlaps and allows adding any mini-boss lists, whether from vanilla or modded content, making it an essential tool for many players.
