Instant Resource Gathering in the Game

How do you usually collect different types of blocks and resources in Minecraft? For example, when mining ores or materials. Typically, a player runs around with a pickaxe, mining everything, and the collected items go into their inventory. However, even at a moderate speed, most blocks are left behind. The same goes for trees: when you chop wood, some items drop around and you have to pick them all up manually. That’s why we made a review of an interesting mod that introduces a new mechanic to the game world. We’re sure you haven’t tried anything like this before, so adding this extension to your modpack is a must!

The Instant Picking mod instantly collects resources around you within a certain radius. Press a button, and everything lying on the ground automatically goes into your character’s inventory. Convenient? Absolutely! But that’s not all. The developers also added the ability to disable dropping all inventory contents with a single click. This is an especially useful feature for vanilla Minecraft that prevents accidentally dropping loot by pressing the default hotkey Q. Previously, players often faced this problem, losing valuable items — for example, in the Nether, if something fell into lava!

It’s hard to show how this works in screenshots. We added a few, but they don’t fully convey the atmosphere or functionality of the mod. We recommend you install this mod right now and test all its features. Unfortunately, it’s only released for Forge, while newer mod versions mostly come out for NeoForge or Fabric loaders. Hopefully, the developer will update it for other loaders as many modpacks are based on Fabric or NeoForge. During testing, no freezes or lags occurred — it works smoothly, like clockwork.

How does the Instant Picking mod work?

You control it with a hotkey that cannot be changed. The entire process is managed by pressing Caps Lock. When you press it and see the chat notification "Instant Pickup ON", all items around you will be collected automatically. However, the system only works within a 5-block radius. You can change this in settings to increase the area, but on weaker PCs it may cause lag or lower performance, as the game will analyze huge areas if, for example, you set the radius to 100-200 blocks or more. The optimal range is around 10-15 blocks for vanilla Minecraft. Everything is collected instantly and quickly, but you still get to watch items being "sucked" into your character.

If you press Caps Lock again, you get the notification "Instant Pickup OFF", which means you cannot drop items. Even if the player presses Q to throw items out, nothing will be dropped because the feature is disabled by default. This system allows you to move around the game world, fly on elytra, fall into lava, without worrying about accidentally dropping valuable resources. It’s a kind of "foolproof" protection that physically blocks accidental drops. Many players will find this very useful, especially in stressful moments. You probably encountered situations when, due to sudden mob attacks or falling, you pressed the wrong key — often Q, located on the left side of the keyboard.

To enable dropping items again, press Caps Lock once more, and you can freely throw items anywhere. Meanwhile, the system will still try to collect items around you. This convenient mechanic works very fast and allows you to collect resources not only from vanilla Minecraft but also from other mods. It doesn’t matter where the blocks come from — just press the key and pick them up. This is great for quickly looting mines, emptying houses on multiplayer servers, escaping bosses with destroyed chests nearby, looting treasure rooms, bastions, and many other locations in the game.

The Instant Picking mod is very useful on any server, whether standard survival or industrial, fantasy, or medieval-themed. Remember, you can tweak some settings like the radius, although the default 5 blocks is usually enough to collect resources quickly in Minecraft.
