For long-distance flights in Minecraft, using Elytra is the best option. They are hard to obtain at the beginning of survival, but as you progress, every player tries to get them to move faster around the game world and various dimensions. However, in the vanilla version of the game, they look too "crude" and dull. No aesthetics, no grace—and even if you install shaders, it doesn’t really fix the situation. And you probably don't want to overload your computer with third-party add-ons just for the Elytra, right? In this case, you can rely on other mods that allow you to change Elytra behavior in the game!

The Elytra Physics modification changes the physics of the wings in the game by adding beautiful fluttering effects, as if you are wearing a cape at the moment. As a result, Elytra will look much more colorful and interesting, with a touch of grace and smoother transitions. And if you combine them with other mods for visual customization, the entire texture and appearance along with the animation will transform significantly. In this case, no shaders are needed, as the Elytra visuals will change dramatically anyway! You can see from the screenshots in this review how this mod changes in-game animation, and what its main advantages and features are.

In the vanilla version of Minecraft, Elytra doesn't have any beautiful animation. The wings open during flight, but there are no effects. As a result, it looks a bit strange. So many years have passed, and the developers still haven’t added anything new for this item. That’s why you have to install third-party mods to diversify the graphics and add new effects. But installing shaders isn’t necessary for this purpose, since they heavily load the PC and reduce performance. If the player has weak specs, playing becomes uncomfortable. Third-party mods like the one from our review come to the rescue.

With the help of Elytra Physics, you can add physics to Elytra to make them resemble a cape. The animation will completely depend on your actions: jumping, flying, diving, stopping, and so on. In different situations, the wings will show various types of animation. Overall, a colorful “fabric” effect appears, as if you’re wearing a cape that flutters in the wind from external forces (wind, air flow). This is a very important innovation for vanilla Minecraft, as players will be able to record colorful videos for YouTube or other platforms and simply enjoy the aesthetics of the gameplay.

No settings need to be configured! You just add the mod to your modpack and enter the game. Changes take effect immediately. Try flying over different biomes, and you’ll see that Elytra behaves differently. There is grace now, and physical effects are applied to the item. It’s recommended to additionally install third-party mods to slightly diversify the appearance of the Elytra. For example, you can use Elytra Trims, which allows a template system, color changes, and adding ink outlines that glow at night. As a result, nothing will remain of the old wings, and this item can be customized however you want!

According to the developer, compatibility with renders from other mods has been added, and if they use physics that affect Elytra, you will see it in the game. In the configuration file, you can add separate rules for the rendering class if third-party mods do not support correct operation—but this requires testing. For most users, the path is simple: install the Elytra Physics mod and leave everything as is. In the screenshots shown in this article, we also used the Elytra Trims add-on to show you how the physics of this item changes if it’s modified—for example, by adding templates or painting it red. You will see changes in appearance both during the day and at night!

You do remember what Elytra looked like in the vanilla version of the game, right? Now compare it with the screenshots: what it was and what it is now! The modification adds a small amount of functionality, but the animation changes drastically. It doesn’t affect gameplay, but it’s aesthetically pleasing to see such effects in the game. When a player is flying in the sky using Elytra, they constantly see the wings on screen, and it’s nice to have them flutter in the wind with smooth animation. Use this add-on and you’ll get that look. Overall, it’s a good tool that every Minecraft player should have. The add-on is available for almost all popular loaders (Forge, NeoForge, Fabric), actively supported by the developer, and frequently updated.
