In Minecraft, blocks are mainly used to create most constructions in buildings, regardless of the style, theme, or game mode. However, there are also other types of blocks that differ from the standard ones, such as stairs, slabs, and these elements are most often needed for decoration: creating overhangs, roofs, using them in farms to restrict the spawn of certain mobs, sloped stairs, and many other constructions. But what do you do if you’ve crafted a huge number of slabs, and you don’t need them right now? You end up stacking them on top of each other, wasting much more time building the next building!
The Craft Slabs Back into Blocks mod solves this problem and allows you to turn slabs back into regular blocks by using a crafting table. Now, players can connect several of these elements at any time and receive blocks, which can then be used for various constructions. For example, if you had many stone brick slabs, why throw them away or waste time building when, with a couple of clicks on the crafting table, they can be combined into a regular block? This mod helps us with that, and we’ve created a brief overview for you with all the details.
Slabs – can be crafted at the crafting table. To do this, the player places three regular blocks of material and receives similar elements. They are most often used to change the covering material in a building, level the floor, or adjust the height (for example, if you need to raise it by half a block). Slabs are often required in the game world for creating automatic farms. They can prevent the spawn of certain mobs if the entire space is covered, although some mobs like spiders can still spawn and move. And if you’ve accumulated many of these structures, after installing the mod, you’ll be able to turn them back into blocks.
The whole process is done using the crafting table: place two slabs, and you get one regular block. As a result, the player loses nothing: whatever resources were spent to create such structures, they are returned. There are no crafting issues, and resource returns are also fine. Therefore, players can now change the state of blocks depending on the tasks at hand. The Craft Slabs Back into Blocks mod supports almost all vanilla materials present in the game, and if you decide to make this in modified versions, you’ll need to test and see how it works with various addons.
The developer also added a separate configuration file, where you can make changes, add a list of specific items with which the mod should work. For example, if you’ve added different types of slabs using third-party expansions, you’ll need to add this list in the configuration file so that the system understands which constructions can have blocks created from slabs and return to their normal state. You can even increase the required resources for some specific constructions, but it’s up to each player how they use the mod's functionality.
As you can see, this is a simple yet very important mod for Minecraft, offering really useful options. Previously, in the vanilla version, you had to throw away slabs or use them in other buildings if you accidentally crafted too many. After installing Craft Slabs Back into Blocks, these problems won’t occur: it’s all quite simple, so it doesn’t create any issues for the player. We’ve shown you in the screenshots how the whole system works, its main advantages, and how to interact with slabs in the game world.
We also recommend checking out a few other important and interesting mods related to slabs:
· Extended Slabs + - adds vertical versions of slabs for the vanilla world. That is, you’ll be able to place them horizontally, opening up a huge number of new possibilities for players;
· Double Slabs – the ability to place different slabs on top of each other. For example, wood with stone bricks, and so on. This functionality allows you to create colorful decoration and interior designs in any building;
· Additional Blocks Vertical Edition Mod – this addon will add not only vertical blocks but also reduce their overall thickness and allow you to rotate the structure by 90 degrees.
In conclusion, we can say that slabs in the vanilla world are extremely important, as they are involved in some crafts, are often used in creating farms, decoration, serve as details in various buildings, which need to be decorated, create separate constructions, and much more. We recommend you check out the list we’ve posted to take advantage of Minecraft’s full potential through third-party addons.
