When choosing armor, do you pay attention to the characteristics and enchantment effects? But this is an old mechanic in Minecraft, used both in the vanilla version of the game and in many modified mods. Now you have the opportunity to add a new parameter that slightly complicates the survival process and provides additional opportunities for further gameplay. You can learn all the intricacies of the mod in this article, where we’ve tried to make a detailed and interesting review. We recommend reading it carefully to understand how the new parameters are distributed…
The ArmorWeight modification adds weight to all armor, at least in the vanilla version of the game. Depending on the element, each item will have its own weight, affecting the player's movement speed. The higher this parameter, the harder it is for you to move around the game world, as the “Burden” effect is applied. This mechanic affects not only players, but also mobs, although it can be disabled in the configuration file so that the changes apply only to your character and nearby users, for example, if you're playing on a server. This can be used both in multiplayer projects and single-player mode.
By default, all armor elements in the vanilla version of the game will have their own weight, affecting movement speed. If a player has too “heavy” sets, the “Burden” effect is applied, which is an alternative to “Slowness.” Players will have to apply new enchantments to armor to compensate for these effects and gain certain advantages. To better understand how this system works, we’ve highlighted the main list of advantages and features of the mod that you definitely need to know:
· HUD interface. All data is displayed over regular armor in the HUD interface as a separate outline. For example, if you're wearing “lightweight,” the parameters are green, if medium – yellow, and if “heavy” – red;
· The system automatically assigns weight to all vanilla armor types that exist in Minecraft, and you don’t need to do anything for this;
· Weight parameters are shown on hover, for example, in the character’s inventory, in the armor section, when equipped, and in other areas. This is displayed under the Weight line;
· If you use the new “Lightness” enchantment, you can reduce the total weight for all armor pieces. Each level reduces weight by 15%, which is quite a good value for such a parameter;
· If the weight is high, the “Burden” effect is applied, which is essentially “Slowness,” so the player’s movement speed is significantly reduced;
· The system supports other mods. You only need to add the elements you want to show weight for in the configuration file. You can manually change the parameters;
· You can change the weight of vanilla items if you’re not satisfied with the default values. There is a separate configuration file that allows you to change current parameters, set new ones, and add various armor elements from third-party mods;
· Pleasant appearance. The developer added a visually appealing display of weight parameters in the HUD interface, and regardless of screen resolution, the system automatically applies an outline showing how burdened your character currently is;
· You can additionally add mods to introduce weight for the inventory. In that case, each block will have its own parameter, and the more resources you carry, the harder it becomes to move around the game world.
As you can see, it offers not only interesting functionality, but also a flexible customization system that allows you to change weight characteristics for existing or modded items. Almost any mods you add to Minecraft will support this mechanic, since the entire process is done by assigning properties in the configuration file. Minimal actions are required from the player, but for creating a realistic modpack, the ArmorWeight mod is a great fit. Be sure to try playing with this add-on to see if this survival style suits you or not.
If used on a server, the mod can attract players and encourage them to engage with several mechanics: crafting different armor sets, enchanting, interacting with other players, trading, and much more. Now in the vanilla version of Minecraft, the ideal set will include not only “Protection IV,” “Mending,” “Unbreaking III,” but also max-level “Lightness,” which will reduce total weight. At the same time, don’t forget that the parameters also depend on the material used. While writing this article, we personally tested different armor types in the game (diamond, netherite, and all others), and even the difference between diamond and netherite is significant!
