Which materials do you mine the least in Minecraft? There are plenty, even though the game offers a huge number of different materials required for crafting various types of armor and tools. One of them is amethyst — a mineral that players rarely use, as it’s not easy to find and doesn’t have much impact on gameplay. It’s used to craft spyglasses, tinted glass, blocks, and calibrated sculk sensors. For players, these are not the most essential elements of gameplay, right? But after installing the mod from our review, you’ll see this material in a completely different light!

The Amethyst Revamped mod adds many new uses for amethyst. It introduces new armor, tools, weapons, various decorative blocks, a beautiful shield, and even a new structure called the “Bunker.” All the new content revolves around amethyst, and this material will finally become much more useful for crafting and trading. It will be in high demand among players on servers. If you want to diversify players’ survival experience, this is a great solution that also encourages exploring different biomes to gather amethyst.

Amethyst becomes an important resource in the game after installing this mod — one you’ll need to mine regularly to craft new items and blocks. Each player can decide how to use the material: make universal armor or tools, weapons, or decorative blocks to enhance builds or interiors. In this review, we’ll show you most of the elements added by the mod. Some decorative blocks look very different from standard amethyst textures — you’ll notice that immediately, as they resemble deepslate or other dark materials.

The crafting recipes for tools, armor, and weapons are the same as for the vanilla versions — the only difference is that amethyst is used as the main resource. We’ve included a few screenshots in case you forgot the recipes, but crafting won’t be a problem for most players. In terms of stats, these items are mid-tier, so you won’t find anything “overpowered” or supernatural here. The items from Amethyst Revamped stand out primarily for their appearance — compared to vanilla, these are very colorful and bright.

In durability, these items fall between iron and diamond gear. For example, the amethyst sword is slightly better than iron but clearly weaker than diamond. However, they can be enchanted with various effects — and when enchanted, they look even more vibrant and shiny. The shield deserves special mention: to craft it, you need to combine a regular shield with three amethysts. When attacked by a mob or another player, the shield not only blocks damage but also reflects it — dealing extra damage to the attacker. This unique feature makes the mod especially appealing for many players.

The amethyst shield blocks damage and deals additional damage of 3 points (1.5 hearts) to the attacker, and up to 8 points (4 hearts) if enchanted. Such equipment provides many advantages in PvP and PvE — Minecraft doesn’t offer many options for shields, but this one not only defends but also attacks. Plus, it looks much better than most alternatives. This is definitely a major advantage of the mod that outweighs any minor flaws. You can see how the amethyst shields look in the screenshots below.

Decorative blocks are the second key category of elements added by this mod. Players can now build new types of structures using these materials. However, you’ll need to spend a lot of time or diamonds to buy amethyst from other players since it’s a relatively rare resource. You can craft blocks like calcite, bricks, basalt bricks, walls, and many others — all made from amethyst. They come with several textures. For example, regular amethyst blocks look just like the familiar ones you already know.

But there’s also a category of smooth blocks that feature a darker texture and look completely different from typical amethyst blocks — somewhat resembling other vanilla Minecraft materials. We’ve added crafting recipes in this review so you can see how many resources are needed to make just one. The textures look great and elegant, with deep noble tones. They can be used not only for decoration but also as main building materials — it’s up to each player how to use them.
If you’ve read this far, you already understand there’s no need to worry about running out of amethyst in vanilla worlds! Now it can be mined not only in geodes but also as ore. There are regular and deepslate versions, meaning you’ll encounter two types of blocks. The regular ore appears more often. There’s no exact information about the generation height, but it’s quite common — which is a big plus. All vanilla Minecraft enchantments like Efficiency and Fortune work on it, allowing you to get several times more amethyst per block.

The game introduces a new dungeon called the “Amethyst Bunker,” which generates randomly in different biomes. It’s a dangerous structure filled with mobs added by this mod. Inside, you’ll find lots of loot chests — containing diamonds, food, various gear, amethyst pickaxes, and many blocks. The structure is large and will take time to explore. We’ve included many screenshots, and you can see that the location is huge — with corridors, stairways, and multiple rooms. There are tons of regular chests full of loot. It’s recommended to search all containers to collect as many valuable materials as possible from the dungeon.

Throughout the structure, there are spawners that generate hostile mobs — mostly new creatures added by Amethyst Revamped. You can fight them for extra loot, but you’ll also need to place torches on spawners to stop them. The dungeon is dark by default, with almost no lighting — so bring torches. Some rooms feature decorative amethyst blocks that also emit light.

Visually, the location is very colorful and unique, but surviving there alone is extremely difficult. You’ll need plenty of potions, enchanted armor, and weapons — including a bow to deal with mobs from a distance (some rooms have multiple levels). Movement happens through wide corridors, with several entrances and exits. In addition to modded mobs, vanilla ones also spawn here, as all conditions for their appearance are present.

The game also features new mobs that can deal damage to players. Some of them spawn inside the new structure. Here’s the list:
· Amethyst Golems – huge mobs that stand out due to their size. Once they spot a player, they apply positive defensive effects. They’re loyal protectors who help you in battle against other mobs;

· Amethyst Blaze – a variation of the regular Blaze, made of amethyst. It spawns only in the new dungeon, where spawners are placed specifically for them. They drop a rod used in crafting. They don’t deal much damage but can overwhelm players with their numbers;

· Crystallologist – an interestingly named mob resembling a witch. It carries a staff and throws energy charges at players. Much stronger than Blazes and very hard to kill — you’ll need to hit it repeatedly with a sword, bow, or hammer to defeat it.

All these entities can be spawned using spawn eggs available in Creative mode — a great way to test them. However, in Survival mode, some decorative blocks are categorized differently, so using JEI or similar mods is recommended. Overall, Amethyst Revamped is a well-made and thoughtful mod that expands the use of amethyst, adds a unique and engaging dungeon, balanced loot, fun mobs, and cool abilities. If you want to diversify your server’s content, this mod is definitely for you!
