Hi there! I am a university student (University of Amsterdam, Netherlands) and I am doing a research for my thesis involving games! Serious games to be more specific. Serious games are type of games with a primary goal other than entertainment. Serious games are applied to other problem spaces, such as: education, revalidation, marketing purposes, and so on. I want to see how game mechanics influences the player’s understanding of the gameplay in serious games.
In this world, you are trapped in an underground prison! To escape this prison you need to solve simple puzzles based on math. Each room will have numbers hidden. You need to find these numbers to figure out the passcode. To figure out the passcode, you must apply a method called “digital root”. The basic idea is that you keep adding the numbers until you are left with a single digit. But you will figure this out in the game. The passcode is used to open chests which contain items that will aid you in your epic escape!
At the end of the game, players will be asked to fill in a small questionnaire. Your name and personal details will not be asked. Also, your rights as a participant will be explained in this questionnaire. This research entirely scientific, so no profit will be made from the data. Also, the data will not be handed to any third parties. Participation is voluntary! If you wish not to participate, feel free to try out this world regardless!
